Nominate for the 2024 WIT Awards – Nominations Are Closed

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS 

  • Awards are open to nominees who self-identify as women (including trans women and non-binary individuals) residing and working in Georgia.
  • They must be employed by a Georgia-based business/organization/nonprofit or a division/subsidiary with a significant presence in Georgia.  
  • Nominees should hold a role within a technology company OR hold a STEAM position in a non-technology company.  
  • Examples include IT operations managers, technical program managers, engineers, web and software developers, IT strategists, UX/CX designers, product designers, computer and information systems managers, information research scientists, cybersecurity specialists, data scientists, telecommunications, and support desk/network operations center. 
  • Nominees must have at least one year of experience with their current company as of May 15, 2024. 
  • If selected as winners, nominees should be willing to participate in WIT promotional activities and serve as ambassadors of the organization. 
  • WIT Board of Directors, WIT Advisory Council Members, and past WIT Award category winners are not eligible to apply.

      AWARD CATEGORIES (An individual will only be accepted in ONE category)

      WIT Women of the Year – Large/Enterprise
      (senior to executive level leaders in organizations with more than 2,500 employees)

      REQUIREMENTS:

      • Must serve in a senior/executive leadership role (typically VP or higher) within their organization and hold budgetary responsibility 
      • Serves as a visionary of technology, groundbreaker in business, and remarkable leader making a difference in the community  
      • Makes significant contributions to their organization as an executive leader 
      • Demonstrates a track record of transforming the industry through professional accomplishments 
      • Has a history of positively impacting organizations where they have worked 
      • Acts as a catalyst to create greater diversity within the workplace 
      • Demonstrates strong community involvement with a commitment to serving others 
      • Serves as a role model and mentor to colleagues and beyond 
      • Leads authentically with a commitment to their values 
      • Embodies the mission of WIT

        WIT Women of the Year – Medium/Mid-sized
        (senior to executive level leaders in organizations with 251 to 2,500 employees)

        REQUIREMENTS:

        • Must serve in a senior/executive leadership role (typically VP or higher) within their organization and hold budgetary responsibility 
        • Serves as a visionary of technology, groundbreaker in business, and remarkable leader making a difference in the community  
        • Makes significant contributions to their organization as an executive leader 
        • Demonstrates a track record of transforming the industry through professional accomplishments 
        • Has a history of positively impacting organizations where they have worked 
        • Acts as a catalyst to create greater diversity within the workplace 
        • Demonstrates strong community involvement with a commitment to serving others 
        • Serves as a role model and mentor to colleagues and beyond 
        • Leads authentically with a commitment to their values 
        • Embodies the mission of WIT

          WIT Women of the Year – Small/Emerging
          (senior to executive level leaders in organizations with up to 250 employees)

          REQUIREMENTS:

          • Must serve in a senior/executive leadership role (typically VP or higher) within their organization and hold budgetary responsibility 
          • Serves as a visionary of technology, groundbreaker in business, and remarkable leader making a difference in the community  
          • Makes significant contributions to their organization as an executive leader 
          • Demonstrates a track record of transforming the industry through professional accomplishments 
          • Has a history of positively impacting organizations where they have worked 
          • Acts as a catalyst to create greater diversity within the workplace 
          • Demonstrates strong community involvement with a commitment to serving others 
          • Serves as a role model and mentor to colleagues and beyond 
          • Leads authentically with a commitment to their values 
          • Embodies the mission of WIT

            WIT Woman to Watch
            (manager to director level)
             

            REQUIREMENTS:

            • Must serve in a leadership role in their organization (typically manager to director level – but not yet in senior leadership or executive level) 
            • Demonstrates exemplary leadership skills and a strong dedication to the industry and the workplace  
            • Shows tremendous potential for transforming the industry through her professional accomplishments 
            • Contributes significantly to their organization 
            • Makes excellent strides in their career while positively impacting their companies 
            • Helps to promote and celebrate diversity in the workplace 
            • Demonstrates community involvement with a commitment to serving others 
            • Serves as a role model and mentor to colleagues 
            • Leads authentically with a commitment to their values 
            • Embodies the mission of WIT  

              WIT Young Professional of the Year
              (ages 20-29)
               

              REQUIREMENTS:

              • Must be a working professional 20-29 years old 
              • Serves as a role model to peers 
              • Demonstrates authenticity in the workplace with a commitment to their values 
              • Shows potential for leadership in the workplace 
              • Actively involved in the community, demonstrating a commitment to serving others 
              • Attended at least 1 WIT YoPro event in the past year 
              • Embodies the mission of WIT 
              • Registered member of the WIT community 

                  WIT Single Mother of the Year
                  (Fall 2023 SMP graduates)
                   

                  REQUIREMENTS:

                  • Must be a graduate from the SMP Class of Fall 2023 
                  • Actively pursuing STEAM employment or currently working in a STEAM role 
                  • Attended all classes and workshops for their program 
                  • Acts as an ambassador for WIT and the Single Mothers’ Program 
                  • Serves as a champion to inspire peers to pursue a passion, interest, studies, and employment in STEAM professions 
                  • Embodies the mission of WIT 
                  • Attended at least 1 WIT Forum or WIT Social as of July 1, 2024 
                  • Registered as a WIT community member 

                  WIT Campus Club of the Year
                  (college students) Applications Close August 30th
                   

                  Requirements:

                  Must have an active WIT Campus Club exemplified through the following engagement requirements:

                  • Hosted at least 2 club events during Fall 2023 and Spring 2024 semesters with an emphasis on STEAM education, exposure, or empowerment
                  • Confirm a minimum of 2 club events planned for the upcoming school year Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 with an emphasis on STEAM education, exposure, or empowerment
                  • Engaged with at least 1 WIT Campus Sponsor during the 2023/2024 school year
                  • Had at least 1 club member attend Job Shadow in January 2024
                  • Had at least 1 club member participate in the WIT Campus Group Mentoring program. The member(s) attended at least 75% of all meetings during the program
                  • Submission of Club Roster
                  • Submission of Current Club Constitution/By-laws ensuring the club’s execution meets by-law requirements
                  • Submission of Videos and/or Photos of events hosted (minimum of 5 artifacts submitted)
                  • Must be able to participate in a virtual judging which takes place ahead of the WIT Awards Gala

                  Please note: A club winner is not eligible to apply for another WIT Campus Club of the Year Award until 24 months after winning.

                    WIT Girl of the Year
                    (high school students)
                    Applications Close August 30th 

                    Eligibility:

                    • Be a registered member of the WIT Girls program
                    • Demonstrate interest in STEAM fields
                    • Demonstrate leadership in STEAM-related activities
                    • Act as a role model or shows how they are giving back
                    • Must have attended at least three WIT Girls programs in 2023-2024
                    • Georgia must be your primary residence
                    • Currently enrolled in a Georgia school as a Junior or Senior in High School
                    • Complete the WIT Girls: Girl of the Year application
                    • Be in good academic standing, GPA 3.0 or higher
                    • Must be available for promotional WIT opportunities. WIT understands each girl may have limitations that could interfere with her commitment and WIT will work with the winner to accommodate scheduling conflicts
                    • Be able to become the 2024 Girl of the Year Ambassador of the WIT Girls program, advocating for girls in STEAM
                    • Have a parent or guardian sign the WIT Girls GOTY application and agree that the girl’s image and name can be used by WIT for promotional purposes

                    * Note: All scholarship winners will not be eligible to apply for another WIT scholarship until 24 months after winning.

                    Requirements:

                    • Answer three (3) essay questions
                    • Provide a copy of your most recent report card or transcript
                    • Must submit 1 recommendation from a guidance counselor or a teacher and 1 recommendation from a peer. (Please note: Peer Recommendation is due upon submission, Teacher Recommendation will be due if you are chosen as a finalist)
                    • Provide a copy of your bio
                    • Attach a high-resolution profile photo
                    • Must be able to attend WIT Women of the Year in STEAM Awards Gala
                    • Must be a US citizen

                      NOMINATIONS PROCESS: 

                      1. Nominee: The nomination can come from the nominee themselves or from a colleague, someone in their network, etc. Nominators will complete and submit the short form at mywit.org and include a short nominee bio. The nominee’s name, title, and company will be included in the WIT Awards program. 

                      2. Honoree: The selection committee will review all submissions to ensure nominees meet the minimum requirements and determine which best represent the spirit of the WIT Awards. Up to 10 nominees for each category will be selected and designated as “honorees.” Honorees are required to submit their completed long-form application and a high-resolution headshot. Honorees will be recognized in the WIT Awards program book and receive a 50% discount on their event tickets. 

                      3. Finalist: The WIT Awards selection committee will determine three finalists in each category. Finalists must attend an in-person interview with the program judges and a brief on-camera interview on Friday, September 13th. Finalists must be present for in-person judging and will be recognized at the Awards program on Thursday, October 24th, at the Georgia Aquarium (complimentary event ticket provided).

                      4. Winners: An independent panel of judges will determine the winners of each category based on the materials submitted and the in-person interview. On October 24th, the winners will accept their award on stage and give a brief acceptance speech. They will also attend the WIT Forum on November 20th to participate in a panel discussion.
