Position Purpose:
The Usability Research Sr Analyst conducts usability testing, interviews, surveys and research for The Home Depot ecommerce products, which are available across several online platforms including traditional browser, phone, kiosk and tablet. By providing customer feedback through a variety of testing and research methods and providing actionable insights and study findings, this position helps drive revenue and ensure the online products are as easy and intuitive to use as possible. Reporting to the User Experience Research Manager, the Usability Research Sr Analyst will plan and conduct tests/research using a variety of methods and tools on the live site, simulations and comps. Findings Reports are provided to a variety of stakeholders including Senior Management, Product Management, Strategy, and Product Design.Major Tasks, Responsibilities & Key Accountabilities:
Schedule, define, plan and execute testing and research; including but not limited to recruited and trending surveys, in-lab and remote usability testing, heuristic evaluations, usability reviews, comp set analysis, ethnographic studies, reports and article collection/ summarization, task analysis, contextual inquires, and identification of customer behavioral patterns.
Work closely with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize testing questions based on analysis of current knowledge, project goals and risks. Collaborate with Product Management and Product Design teams to determine necessary tests, budget, and convert study findings into actionable items. Apply customer research and usability principles to provide recommendations that address observed usability problems. Translate findings into action plans to quickly improve web solutions.
Analyze study data, create and present reports to appropriate stakeholders. Serve as an expert consultant by reviewing concepts and designs for ease of use, and communicating usability best practices. Provide insight and recommendations on trends, abandonment issues and opportunities to increase conversion and drive site improvements.
Design research protocols, templates and processes for variety of qualitative and quantitative analysis. Leverage web analytics and recommend new metrics, which will improve understanding of web usability effectiveness.
Establish and manage a database of interview and survey participants. Create and manage programs to gather participants. Contribute to and help manage the Usability team site/blog/wiki.
Provide strategic direction, monitor feedback and collaborate with analytic team members to support the online customer feedback survey processes. Mentor e-commerce team members to cultivate usability and accessibility understanding and skills via presentations, reviews, articles and one on one sessions.
Nature and Scope:
Position reports to the Manager, Online Product Design
No direct responsibility for supervising others.
For Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada and New York City residents: The pay range for this position is between $100,000 and $140,000. Starting salary may vary based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, the position being offered, location, education, training, and/or experience. The Home Depot offers additional competitive financial and non-financial benefits, which may include a performance-based bonus program or a profit sharing program depending on position
Environment:
Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
Travel:
Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
Standard Minimum Qualifications:
Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.Additional Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum bachelors degree in HCI, human factors, psychology or similar field with specific usability research related work experience required
Education Required:
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor’s degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.

Physical Requirements:
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
Preferred Qualifications:
5+ years experience in usability testing, survey/customer feedback strategy, and other related disciplines within an e-commerce environment
Experience using mixed methods research in study designs
End-to-end experience with all aspects of research (study design, recruiting, moderation, analysis, reporting)
Strong portfolio demonstrating past work experience and deliverables (e.g.: study plans, reports)
Prior experience with primary and secondary research methodologies
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:
Strong communication, presentation, organization, time management and interpersonal skills
Effective cross-function collaboration skills
Ability to maintain strong rapport with teammates, and stakeholders from multiple business groups
Proven ability working in fast paced environment with shifting priorities while managing tactical deliverables and meeting deadlines
