2022 Summer Intern – Site Reliability Engineer

Cox Automotive is seeking a Summer Intern that is interested in Software Engineering and automation. The Site Reliability Engineering team is an innovative team devoted to providing automated solutions and services for Cox Automotive to measure, evaluate and plan for visible, reliable application delivery and maintenance.

Job Overview

As a Site Reliability Engineer Intern, you will work with a mentor to help create automated pipelines and solutions required for continuous delivery in an Agile Dev/Ops environment. The tools and use-cases are diverse, and our challenge is to increase the development velocity by optimizing various parts of the pipeline and increase application stability. This is an opportunity to create automation, monitoring, and pipelines to improve deploy and response time across the board. We are looking for interns who are passionate and ready to learn.

Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions

Automate anything and everything! (Infrastructure build out, testing, deploying, monitoring, etc)
Design and assist in the setup and maintenance of application monitoring and alerting
Improve predictability and reliability of software releases, workflows, and operating software
Reduce application deployment windows by leading the company towards a Continuous Deployment environment
Reduce mean time to recovery (MTTR) by helping troubleshoot, monitor, alert, and automate recovery
Qualifications:
What We Look for (Minimum)

Experience with a programming languages like Python, Ruby, Go, or Java
Experience with a version control systems like Git or Subversion
Desire to work in a fast-paced, evolving, growing, dynamic environment
Excellent written communication and problem-solving skills
Rising Junior or Senior
Good academic standing with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better
Preferred Experience and Experience Gained through this Internship

Experience with Cloud Computing platforms like Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform etc.
Experience with continuous integration tools like Jenkins or CircleCI, etc.
Linux experience with some shell scripting, linux containers like docker or rocket
Experience with Ruby or Java applications
Experience supporting Database Server infrastructure like MySQL or Postgres
Networking knowledge
Experience with Hashicorp tools like Vagrant, Terraform, Packer
Relevant extracurricular involvement (user group membership, open-source contributions, blogs, etc.)
