WIT Volunteer Spotlight
Why did you start volunteering with WIT?
WIT is unlike any other organization in ATL. It’s inclusive, they have informative events and it provides an opportunity to network with some of the most amazing people. I got involved for career mobility and stuck around because of the impact WIT is making in so many lives in GA.
What is your favorite program / event within WIT?
This is tough, but it’s hard to beat the WIT Awards. It’s so inspiring and always so much fun.
What about you…What would you like to share that people may not know?
I grew up in a sports family…my dad was a college football coach turned pro football scout, my older brother is a college football coach, my uncle works in the NFL and I interned with the STL Rams for two training camps.
What experience in your life made you a stronger person?
My mom survived breast cancer when I was in 8th grade. With my dad working a lot, I was the careaker. Seeing her go through chemo, lose her hair and still remain positive reminds me to never take a day for granted and always see the good.
What 3 traits define you?
Loyal, strong, happy
What would be the title of your biography?
Stubborn in a good way (depending on who you ask)
What is the best place you have traveled to?
I’ve been to some cool places but going to the Super Bowl to watch the Chiefs win at the beginning of 2020 tops the list.
What is your favorite place to eat?
Clay’s Sports Cafe
What is your favorite word/phrase/quote? “Make the most of yourself, for that is all there is of you.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson
Since 1992, Women in Technology (WIT) has been a formidable force-an engine of change and innovation-that helps women and girls break through barriers and advance opportunities in science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM). WIT works to empower and educate women and girls about opportunities in STEAM by educating middle and high school girls, and young women in college and by sharing the stories of successful professional women in STEAM.
