WIT Girls Robotics Team To Compete in GAFirst Robotics Competition
The WIT Girls Robotics team is on the move. Sponsored by WIT and NASA, a group of 5 talented girls at the Coretta Scott King Women’s Leadership Academy will compete in the GAFirst Robotics Competition on February 24, 2023 for the chance to achieve their personal best in robotics engineering.
The FIRST® Robotics Competition is a rigorous pursuit for the athletic mind that aims to combine science and technology with competitive fun on the creative stage. Under strict rules and with limited resources, namely a standard kit of parts, teams will compete against the clock to design, program, and build a functional robot to play in a themed head-to-toe field game challenge. In the process, student teams are challenged to build a brand, sharpen their teamwork skills, develop community partnerships for fundraising support, and work to promote STEM in their local community.
This WIT Girls Robotics team is an extension of our WIT Girls initiative, gathering together like-minded middle and high school girls aged 12 to 17 who are excited to explore the many avenues of robotics engineering. As part of their groups, girls in WIT Robotics learn the fundamentals of mechanics, electronics, programming languages, and coding to shape their inquisitiveness and hone their budding problem solving and analysis skills.
