The WIT Closet was born out of a simple but powerful idea: to provide recent graduates of our WIT Single Mothers’ Program with the professional attire they need to feel confident and prepared for their upcoming interviews. Created to ensure that women stepping into the tech industry can focus on their skills, not their wardrobes, the WIT Closet offers free, high-quality clothing and accessories to help them succeed.

Thanks to the leadership of SMP alumna Amber Arnold, the WIT Closet is growing into a vital resource. Amber’s vision has always been centered on empowering women to step confidently into their careers, knowing that they have the support they need for such a significant moment. Whether it’s finding the perfect outfit for an interview or adding professional pieces to their wardrobe for a new job, the WIT Closet helps ease one of the many challenges women face when starting their careers in tech.

Recently, Amber hosted a special event with a unique focus: helping mothers embrace self-love. These women are mothers first—women who are constantly caring for others and often putting themselves last. With this in mind, the September 7th event was a beautiful opportunity for moms to take a break from their busy lives and focus on themselves.

In anticipation of the first Shopping Day, the attending moms completed a style quiz to make the event as personalized as possible. This helped ensure that each mom could find clothing and accessories suited to her style and needs. The event was curated with a theme to remind mothers of the importance of being “self-ish”—prioritizing self-care, self-love, and self-awareness. Attendees enjoyed a one-on-one shopping experience with selections from the WIT Closet, light refreshments, and, as a special treat, a sound healing session led by Danielle Veal from The Sound Sage Co. The evening was a perfect balance of relaxation, reflection, and empowerment, reminding these hardworking moms that caring for themselves is just as important as caring for others.

We are incredibly proud of the WIT Closet and Amber Arnold’s leadership in expanding its reach. As we continue to grow, we remain committed to supporting women as they transition into their tech careers and beyond.
