WIT Volunteer Spotlight
Why did you start volunteering with WIT?
I am truly grateful for my experience volunteering with Women In Technology. I am passionate about Technology and the economic security that a Tech career can provide. Volunteering with WIT enables me to help the next generation of women find their passion and gain financial stability. I love that WIT programs are available at every stage of our lives starting with WIT Girls and carrying through to those of us in our mid and late careers. I’m proud to be able to contribute to the WIT mission.
What do you find most rewarding about volunteering with WIT?
Making new friendships and being able to give back and help WIT grow.
What is your favorite program / event within WIT?
Who can pick?! Love the energy at WOTY and Connect. Single Mothers’ graduation is inspirational and exciting to see these women starting their careers.
What about you…What would you like to share that people may not know? I spent the first ten years of my work life in non-tech roles. I decided to make the career change to technology, returned to school and reinvented myself.
What 3 traits define you? Passionate, determined, relentless
What is the best place you have traveled to? Anywhere new… my two favorite cities to return to are London and New York.
What experience in your life made you a stronger person? my faith and my divorce
Since 1992, Women in Technology (WIT) has been a formidable force-an engine of change and innovation-that helps women and girls break through barriers and advance opportunities in science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM). WIT works to empower and educate women and girls about opportunities in STEAM by educating middle and high school girls, and young women in college and by sharing the stories of successful professional women in STEAM.
