WIT Volunteer Spotlight
Why did you start volunteering with WIT?
I first volunteered with WIT as an employee at The Weather Channel. After hosting high school girls during WIT Girls Job Shadow week, I knew I wanted to support this cause.
What do you find most rewarding about volunteering with WIT?
The most rewarding part for me is the thought that, in some small way, I may be positively impacting a young lady’s life. Growing up, there were teachers and mentors that showed me support and made me feel like I could do anything. Well, that is exactly why I volunteer with WIT Girls and this amazing organization– I want to do that, too.
What is your favorite program / event within WIT?
It’s hard to choose a favorite program! But if I had to, it would be WIT Girls. Can you imagine if every child had the opportunities that WIT provides students in STEAM? Such a powerful thing.
What about you…What would you like to share that people may not know?
I have a five-year-old daughter, Remy, that is my world. She already loves science and I am beyond excited that she may land in the STEAM field.
What would be the title of your biography?
I Wake Up Thankful
What is the best place you have traveled to?
West Coast
What is your favorite place to eat?
Manuel’s Tavern
Since 1992, Women in Technology (WIT) has been a formidable force-an engine of change and innovation-that helps women and girls break through barriers and advance opportunities in science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM). WIT works to empower and educate women and girls about opportunities in STEAM by educating middle and high school girls, and young women in college and by sharing the stories of successful professional women in STEAM.
