Supporting WIT…

Why did you start volunteering with WIT?

Throughout my career, it has always been important for me to support and advance the careers of other women. What led me to volunteer with WIT is their holistic approach to empowering women and girls from the “classroom to the boardroom”. I want to be a part of the mission to ensure that women are represented in STEAM careers. Women bring their unique backgrounds, experiences and perspectives to solving business problems and creating innovation. Championing diversity, equity and inclusion is a way to ensure more women have a seat at the table and are included in the discussion.

What do you find most rewarding about volunteering with WIT?

It’s amazing how powerful it is to connect with others when you don’t have to explain yourself. You’ve been through similar experiences of being the only woman in the room, of trying to balance all of the contradictory expectations society places on women today. WIT has given us the space to just be ourselves and lift each other up.

What do you find most rewarding about volunteering with WIT (Program you are volunteering for… ex: WIT Girls, Campus, Careers, YoPros and Events (Forums, Socials, Signature Events)?

My purpose is to help others, particularly women, build confidence and feel empowered to pursue their goals, personally and professionally. WIT has given me the opportunity to live out this purpose every day in connecting, not only with other YoPros, but every community under the WIT organization.

What is your favorite program/event within WIT?

Aside from my YoPros group (shout out to all my ladies!), I really enjoy the Women of the Year Awards. We are often focused on all the things we have left to do. I appreciate this event as a time for gratitude and celebration of how far we’ve come, as well as acknowledging how many incredible women leaders and allies are working towards WIT’s mission.

Plus, we be fancy 😊
