Supporting WIT…

Why did you start volunteering with WIT?

Throughout my career, it has always been important for me to support and advance the careers of other women. What led me to volunteer with WIT is their holistic approach to empowering women and girls from the “classroom to the boardroom”. I want to be a part of the mission to ensure that women are represented in STEAM careers. Women bring their unique backgrounds, experiences and perspectives to solving business problems and creating innovation. Championing diversity, equity and inclusion is a way to ensure more women have a seat at the table and are included in the discussion.

What do you find most rewarding about volunteering with WIT?

I volunteer with WIT Campus. College is a time of exploration for both traditional and non-traditional students. Whether you are someone early in your post-secondary education journey or are later in your career deciding to return to school to pursue a different career path or finishing a degree you started years before. What I find to be most rewarding is removing barriers and increasing access for college women who are interested in pursuing careers in STEAM by providing them with the support and building blocks needed to assist them with charting their own journey and future.

What is your favorite program / event within WIT?

My favorite is the new program WIT Bridge. The program is designed to bridge the gap between WIT Campus and WIT Girls to bring them together to create connections, start conversations and form a community through information sharing. I value the concept of each one, teach one. It is an opportunity for WIT Campus college women to connect authentically with WIT Girls and share their experiences on how they made the transition from high school to college.
