Cox Automotive ​is looking for a​  Lead Software Engineer  ​to join a data-focused team in Atlanta, GA – located in Sandy Springs.  In this role you will be responsible for developing critical applications utilizing primarily Python and AWS.  You will work on products that span technologies, systems, and processes where you will design, test, and ship high quality code every sprint. In this role, you will collaborate with product, engineering, and operations to build mission-critical internal and external features that enable core APIs for Cox Automotive.

The Job:

As a Lead Software Engineer on the Vehicle Market Insights team, you will be a key member of a software team that designs, develops, tests, deploys, integrates, and supports robust and scalable API products within a data organization.
Understands the team’s priorities, Protects Production, and continually looks for ways to optimize application performance & minimize costs.
Communicates with other software engineers as well as Product and Architecture to influence the product backlog, architecture roadmap, and articulate technical decisions outside of the team.

You are team oriented. You provide leadership in designing solutions as well as mentoring more junior developers and collaborating with peers.
Our Technologies:

AWS cloud-native API architectures in multiple regions
Primary development: Python, DynamoDB
DevOps tools: Github, NewRelic, PagerDuty
Responsibilities:

Lead a team of software engineers who design and develop code that consistently adheres to good programming practices; provide technical expertise to team members
Actively engage in architectural sessions and provide solutions to complex problems
Partake in code reviews; enforce good coding practices of unit testing, exception handling, and reuse
Ensure the team’s designs and solutions are performant, scalable, and secure
Adhere to “infrastructure as code” principals and CI/CD best practices
Work directly with stakeholders to understand and solve real world problems in our domain
Communicate with engineers, leadership, and stakeholders to articulate implementation decisions and technical direction
Evolve problem statements into actionable items that enable your team to ​deliver​ measurable value
Demonstrate extreme ownership of your products, and influence your team members to exhibit the same
Live by Agile (particularly Scrum) principles; collaborate with team members using Agile techniques including test-driven development, code reviews, and retrospectives

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline and minimum 6 years’ experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master’s degree and 4 years’ experience; a Ph.D. and 1 year of experience; or 18 years’ experience in a related field
Professional experience with Python, AWS (assortment of tools) and DevOps technologies
Experience in design and implementation of REST APIs, services, system tasks and cloud solutions
Git or general version control experience
Keen analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to pay careful attention to detail
Ability to understand and work with product teams to engineer requirements
Ability to influence others through technical writing including high and low level diagramming techniques
Eager to dig into problems and bring proposed solutions to group discussion
Open to feedback and able to creatively adapt multiple ideas into a solution
Pluses

Experience with agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, XP, etc.)
Experience with information retrieval systems, hard state-space optimization solutions
Big-data implementation experience using Hadoop, HBase, Kafka, ElasticSearch, NoSQL or related tools/technologies
Automotive industry experience
Strong system administration skills
Good public speaking skills
