Supporting WIT…

Why did you start volunteering with WIT?

Being in the IT recruitment industry for the last 13 years, I have recognized that more woman are needed in the technology world and it starts with getting girls involved in technology at an earlier age. Women bring a different perspective, different ideas that needs to be heard.

What do you find most rewarding about volunteering with WIT?

As the volunteer director, I am genuinely touched by the amount of people in the Atlanta community who wants to get involved in WIT. We have over 200 active volunteers in our program. They give their time to support the WIT community. It just great to see!

What is your favorite program / event within WIT?

Outside of my volunteer program (of course, hehe), my favorite program is the Single Mothers’ Program. I really relate to this program as I was raised by a single mother who did everything in her power to provide for my brother and me. She was unable to move up in her career because she did not have a college education. If there were a similar program like this, who knows what she would have achieved.

About our Volunteer…

What about you…What would you like to share that people may not know? People may not know that I have a podcast with my husband called “Date Night Movie Podcast.” We talk about movies and if they are a good date night movie.

What experience in your life made you a stronger person? Losing my mother to cancer 7 years ago. I know a little morbid, but this experience taught me life is short and that I need to really cherish the time I spend with my family and friends.

What 3 traits define you? Positive, out-going, and loyal.

What would be the title of your biography? Things I Did and Things I Think I Did

What is the best place you have traveled to? Aruba

What is your favorite place to eat? Too many to name. Atlanta has some GREAT restaurants.

What is your favorite word/phrase/quote? “It’s okay to not be okay.”
