WIT November Forum Recap: Rising Stronger: Stories of Risk, Resilience, and the Power of Community

At WIT, we believe in the power of community to accelerate personal growth, drive innovation, and create meaningful change. The November WIT Forum brought that belief to life through a panel of dynamic speakers who shared personal experiences that showed not just how they’ve grown, but how they’ve helped others rise, too.

This wasn’t a typical industry panel. It was an honest, heartfelt conversation about the real journey of building a tech career. The takeaways were clear: resilience matters, risk opens doors, and rising is always more powerful when we do it together.

Redefining Resilience: Letting Go to Grow

One speaker shared a lasting metaphor from a mentor: “Some things bounce. Others break.” Learning which priorities to hold close and which to release became a turning point in her ability to thrive under pressure. Another panelist talked about the power of saying no, and how setting boundaries helped her protect her energy and grow with intention.

A third reflected on something many professionals fear—losing a job. For her, it wasn’t an end. It was a new beginning. That moment led to reinvention, deeper self-belief, and a path she hadn’t imagined.

Throughout the conversation, a theme emerged. Choosing purpose over pressure creates clarity, especially in moments of uncertainty.

Choosing Growth Over Comfort

One panelist uses her professional platforms to highlight her team’s accomplishments and celebrate the mentors who helped her rise.

A third panelist champions inclusive hiring practices. She helped implement blind resumes and revise job descriptions to remove unnecessary barriers.

Advice for the Next Generation: Access, Advocacy, and Authenticity

When asked what future leaders need most, the panelists returned to three powerful ideas.

Access: Growth happens when others open doors. Sponsorship and mentorship can transform a career.
Advocacy: Speaking up for yourself and others creates ripple effects that reach far beyond one team or organization.
Authenticity: Staying rooted in your values is more than empowering. It is a strategy for sustainable leadership.

One speaker shared her excitement to lead WIT’s Careers in Action program in 2026. This new initiative will support mid-career and executive women with mentorship, confidence-building, and tools to take their next step.

The Journey Isn’t Linear, and That’s the Point

Throughout the forum, we heard again and again that tech careers are rarely a straight path. Detours, pivots, and pauses often lead to the most meaningful growth. When those journeys happen in community, they become even more powerful.
