7/15-7/19 WIT Girls Job Shadow Week

What is the WIT Girls Job Shadow Program? Teenage girls are provided with a glimpse of the day-to-day excitement of a career in technology. For one week in the summer, high school girls are paired with various technology centered organizations to experience the possibilities of a career in a STEAM field. Volunteers at these organizations share their education and career path with the girls, giving them an idea of what it takes to succeed.

WIT Girls Testimonials

“I especially enjoyed the panels that we had throughout the week and how they all covered different areas and specialties. The most important thing I learned was that even with a specialty in a certain area, you are never truly confined to one niche job but a wide variety that revolve around similar concepts.”

“I really appreciated the time that was given by each of the workers at the Weather Channel. Especially since they were in the middle of working and took out the time from their day to come to meet with us. I learned that there are many job opportunities in the Weather Channel. Some may think, including me before I came here, that the Weather Channel just has people who tell you the weather. But this company is much more than that, there is something here for anyone that enjoys STEAM.”

“It was super fun to hear from all our mentors! I learned that roles can often be naturally inherited in a company and that you never know where you’ll end up.”
