On June 26, 2024, Cox Communications played a vital role in supporting the Single Mothers Program (SMP) by hosting a special Meet & Greet event for the SMP 2024 class and their buddies at their corporate office in Atlanta. The event was a unique opportunity for participants to connect, network, and take a significant step forward in their professional journeys with complimentary professional headshots.

A Warm Welcome to the SMP Class of 2024

This event was particularly special as it allowed the SMP Class of 2024 to meet each other in person for the first time. Additionally, SMP alumni who have already completed the program were present, providing valuable insights and encouragement to the new participants. Each student is paired with a buddy, creating a support system beyond the program. Cox very generously opened their doors and hosted a wonderfully welcoming event.

Professional Headshots: A Step Towards Career Advancement

One of the event’s highlights was the opportunity for our students to have professional headshots taken. In today’s digital age, a professional headshot is essential for career advancement. It enhances one’s professional image on platforms like LinkedIn and other job search websites, making a strong first impression on potential employers and networking contacts. The professional headshots were taken by a skilled photographer, ensuring that each participant received a high-quality image that reflected their professionalism and confidence. Additionally, another photographer was on site capturing other great event moments.

Recognizing Cox Support

Cox has been a steadfast supporter of the Single Mothers Program. Their commitment to the SMP program goes beyond financial support; it includes active participation in events like the Meet & Greet, where Cox employees engage directly with the participants and contribute to their personal and professional growth. Cox even provided their own volunteers to run the event and love on our moms, making the day even more special.

Funding for 2024 SMP Equipment

Cox is also supporting the 2024 SMP program by funding needed learning equipment for 2024. WIT, partnering with Inspiredu, purchases equipment packs at significantly reduced cost to enable students to have access to necessary refurbished laptops, monitors, and peripherals that enhance the learning experience throughout the Single Mothers Program, studying professional development, IT Fundamentals and Cybersecurity Certifications. Thank you Cox for relieving our students of any financial burden allowing them to focus on their education.
