Celebrating Leadership: WIT’s CEO Heather Rocker Recognized in Georgia 500

We’re thrilled to announce that Heather Rocker, CEO and President of Women in Technology (WIT), has been honored in the prestigious Georgia 500 list, a recognition that highlights influential leaders making a profound impact across Georgia. This acknowledgment celebrates Heather’s commitment to advancing women and girls in Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Math (STEAM) — a mission WIT has championed for over three decades.

Under Heather’s leadership, WIT continues to drive initiatives that empower girls and women from middle school to executive levels. From early engagement programs in middle and high schools to support at the college and career levels, WIT’s programs are designed to inspire and equip women to excel in STEAM fields, “fields that have traditionally seen far fewer women than men in their ranks.” For Heather, “Our biggest goal is to scale and take our programs across the state, especially to serve middle-school and high-school girls,” a vision that is fueling WIT’s current growth and expansion efforts.

With over 20 years of experience in business and technology, Heather’s expertise is a tremendous asset to WIT and the community it serves. Her history with WIT runs deep, having served as the organization’s “first executive director,” followed by her tenure as CEO of Girls, Inc. of Greater Atlanta. Heather is also a graduate of the 2019 Leadership Atlanta Class, a program dedicated to cultivating civic leaders in the region.

WIT also strives to support women through its highly impactful single-mother certification program, “geared toward single mothers to provide a foundation in IT fundamentals and cybersecurity.” As we look to the future, Heather’s leadership is driving WIT toward achieving its vision of positioning Georgia as a leader in STEAM inclusion and representation.

Join us in celebrating Heather’s well-deserved recognition and the continued growth of WIT’s mission to empower and inspire girls and women in STEAM!
