Lisa’s Advice and Inspiration:

I would tell my younger self that I was born amazing, born to win and to trust in my unique vision and resilience, even when the path seems challenging or uncertain. I would actively encourage myself to not be afraid of taking calculated risks, lean into each learning experience, and celebrate every step in the journey, as each step matters. I’d remind myself at a young age, that my voice matters, especially as a woman in tech, and that by staying true to my purpose and staying visible while giving back, it will inspire and uplift others along the way, because together we all win.”

What inspired you to pursue a career in tech/STEAM, and who has been your most significant influence?

“My career in tech/STEAM was inspired by started with a fascination of how technology empowers our ability to do more in less time and delivering impact. I was inspired also by watching trailblazing black women being visible in tech, to understand the importance and value of representation and redefining what is possible. Two icons that inspired me to pursue technology/STEAM includes Nichelle Nichols as Lieutenant Uhura, Chief Communications Officer on Star Trek and also Dr. Mae Jemison, the 1st African American woman in space.”

Can you share a moment or project you are particularly proud of in your career?

“As an Entrepreneur, Founder and CEO of EyeMail Inc., I am particularly proud to be woman-owned technology company in partnership with Microsoft. EyeMail’s video in email technology was implemented for the launch of Microsoft Windows 11 and key significant launches, delivering record number metrics. EyeMail was recognized as a Finalist- Diverse Supplier of the Year (1 in 5 globally). This was definitely a defining moment in time in my career.”

How have you contributed to innovation or change in your organization or community?

“I have contributed game-changing innovation by developing a patent-pending software EyeMail,  to both digital communication and community engagement by enhancing the traditional email experience with embedded video. This change allows organizations to stand out, capturing attention and engaging audiences on a more personal, impactful level. By introducing video email, EyeMail empowers brands to deliver messages that connect emotionally and visually, driving higher engagement, brand recall, and conversion rates.”

How do you use your position to empower or mentor other women/girls in STEAM?

“In my role as CEO, I actively work to empower women and girls in STEAM by creating pathways for mentorship, providing career guidance, and promoting visibility. Through speaking engagements, workshops, and one-on-one mentorship, I aim to inspire and equip future leaders with the tools to succeed. By sharing my journey and insights, I hope to break down barriers and show that success in technology is achievable for everyone, regardless of background.”

Can you give us an example of how you’ve supported diversity, equity, and inclusion in your work?

“At EyeMail Inc., fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion is a core principle in everything we do. As CEO, I ensure that we celebrate diverse perspectives by recruiting talent from various backgrounds and creating a culture where everyone feels valued and empowered. This commitment extends beyond our team to the work we produce—delivering digital communications that resonate with audiences across cultures, languages, and experiences. Through initiatives, partnerships, and inclusive messaging, we continually aim to uplift underrepresented voices and make DEI a priority both within our company and in our industry.”

What are your goals for the future, and how do you hope to continue making an impact in STEAM?

“My goals for the future are to continue to innovate technology in the email and digital landscape and to continue to expand EyeMail global footprint for mass adoption.  As a woman leader in tech, I hope to continue making an impact in STEAM by advocating for greater representation, inclusivity, and accessibility in the industry. My goal is to inspire and empower the next generation of diverse talent by creating more opportunities for women and underrepresented groups to enter and thrive in STEAM fields. Through mentorship, partnerships, and innovative initiatives, I want to help dismantle barriers and create a supportive environment where everyone has the chance to contribute meaningfully, drive innovation, and realize their potential in tech.”

How do you envision the future of women in technology, and what changes would you like to see?

“I would like to see more Women Entrepreneurs, Female Innovators, Digital Disruptors in Tech to continue to inspire the next generation of leaders.”

What does selection as a finalist for the WIT Awards mean to you, and how do you feel this recognition can inspire others?

“Being selected as a finalist for the WIT Awards is an incredible honor and a testament to the progress we’re making in championing diversity and innovation in tech. This recognition reaffirms the value of hard work, perseverance, and the importance of lifting each other up as we break barriers in traditionally male-dominated spaces. I hope that this recognition inspires other women and girls to pursue their passions in STEAM, showing them that their contributions are invaluable and that they, too, can become leaders, innovators, and change-makers.”
