Synchrony: Empowering Single Mothers in STEAM through Strategic Support and Program Partnerships

Women In Technology (WIT) is honored to recognize Synchrony as a Masters Sponsor of the WIT Single Mothers Program. With a longstanding commitment to making a tangible difference in the lives of women and single mothers, Synchrony has been an instrumental partner, helping to bridge the gender gap in technology and empower single mothers to achieve lasting change. 

With women comprising only about 26% of the technology workforce—and even fewer in leadership roles—the need to increase their representation in these fields is critical. Through Synchrony’s financial support, WIT single mothers gain access to career training, mentorship, and essential resources, equipping them with skills that open doors to high-demand jobs. By creating pathways to success, this program aims to break cycles of generational poverty, which directly impact families and communities.

Beyond their financial support, Synchrony’s role extends to hands-on involvement in the program. Synchrony team members actively participated in the selection process for the program’s cohort, interviewing candidates and helping select women ready to embrace this transformative opportunity. In addition, the Synchrony team is mentoring 2 of the mothers to guide them as they prepare to enter the STEAM workforce. 

Their dedication as a financial supporter and an active partner has directly impacted not only the program, but also the WIT Closet, which provides professional attire to help our alumni women enter job interviews and workplaces with confidence. Synchrony was the first company to organize and host a professional clothing drive across their Atlanta-based teams creating a wonderful collection of attire to support Single Mother Program graduates.
