Supporting WIT…
Why did you start volunteering with WIT?
I love the mission of WIT – as the only female on our Mid-market sales team, I’m passionate about empowering women to become strong leaders and encourage young adults to take the leap of faith and take control of their career. No one will ever be as involved or care as much about your career progression and success as you will; So I think shining light on the resources we can leverage to make our mark in the corporate world is important to use as an advantage. Bringing together women that are encouraged and disciplined to pave their path is something that fills my cup and brings the biggest smile to my face. We are stronger together, no doubt, and I love the continuous learning that is fostered through WIT and the many avenues offered (WIT Girls, WIT Campus, WIT YoPros, WIT Careers). There’s a stage for every progression in life, and I think that’s really meaningful.
What do you find most rewarding about volunteering with WIT?
The most rewarding aspect of volunteering is being able to hear everyone’s stories. We all come from different backgrounds, and hearing the success stories of those who have made it to the top is incredibly encouraging. I also love being able to act as a connector and friend to those dipping their toes into the organization – introducing new friends to the relationships I’ve been able to cultivate through WIT. I enjoy meeting new people and understanding how I can make a mark on someone else’s life – no matter how small that impact may be, I love being able to give back and share what I can for the betterment of whoever the audience may be. At the end of the day, we are all humans, and sharing compassion and care goes such a long way.
What is your favorite program / event within WIT?
As much fun as all of them are, I really enjoy the annual gala. Having the opportunity to highlight the big wins of women in specific categories is fun and who doesn’t like a reason for celebration! Also, seeing everyone enjoy themselves and come together in celebration of others’ bringing a positive energy to round out the year!
