Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Provide management and oversight to development team in the areas of technical direction, future planning and standard development practices.

2. Ensure technical solutions conform to Truist Technology standards and strategic technology directives; build towards the future.

3. Establish and ensure scheduled milestones on project/program objectives are met in a timely manner.

4. Exhibit an in-depth knowledge of the principles, theories, practices and techniques for accomplishing activities related to planning, managing and implementing application delivery of projects and programs.

5. Represent all Truist Technology areas when working with Truist Business Partners to understand business problems and provide solutions to those problems.

6. Effectively support the production applications within the assigned area, with a focus on quality implementations and proactive production stability.

7. Direct all software development and integration activities for applications within assigned areas to include small stand-alone enhancements, medium projects and strategic large-scale projects.

8. Work with other Truist Technology groups on evergreening and infrastructure initiatives.

9. Capitalize on synergies between activities across applications within assigned team that contribute to reduced risks, lower costs and faster product delivery.

10. Establish efficient processes, policies, standards and performance measurements to effectively manage and optimize product delivery.

11. Effectively integrate people, processes and technology across Truist Technology to increase business value and gain competitive advantage in the industry.

12. Leverage emerging technologies and automation to improve business efficiencies, enhance speed-to-market of solution delivery, and support business and enterprise transformation and optimization.

13. Promote, instill and demonstrate Truist’s Client Service culture and behavior.

14. Ensure team provides repeatable software development lifecycle activities and deliverables following industry best practices.

15. Effectively manage risk through providing the first line of risk defense, proactively identifying risks, and implementing the necessary mitigations based on criticality.

16. Plan and develop departmental budgets in accordance with established guidelines; administer compliance to meet budgetary goals and negotiate changes, as required.

17. Plan and manage the Workload Planning process for assigned team.

18. Provide informational reporting to staff, colleagues, senior management and clients on a regular basis to ensure all relative and critical information is clearly and expeditiously shared.

19. Direct the human resource activities for assigned team (e.g. counseling, conducting performance appraisals, setting performance expectations, addressing performance issues, succession planning).

20. Work with technology vendors to ensure high quality code or service delivery adhering to stated Service Level Agreements (SLA).  Serve as the technical point of contact for applications within assigned areas.

21. Review technical and business processes, standards and procedures making recommendations for continuous improvement.

22. Provide oversight on the efforts of your team to make sure that Truist Technology Standards and Processes and “best practices” are followed.

23. Effectively manage labor pool resources and dollars using prioritization and working within constraints while preserving high quality delivery.

24. Stay abreast of industry trends in software development such as Agile and Software Development and Information Technology Operations (DevOps).

 

 

SCOPE: The differentiating factor between levels of SWE Director is scope, for example size of budget and headcount, and complexity of business line and related technologies.

 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Equivalent combination of advanced education and experience, which could include any combination of 8 years of experience in IT software engineering, 5 years’ relevant business experience (i.e. making technical-related decisions on the business side), 5 years’ experience in project management, and at least 2 years of management experience Broad and in-depth knowledge of technology trends, competitive environment, regulatory requirements and trends, and IT strategies employed to continually meet the demands of clients and regulators Ability to translate enterprise level strategic planning information into software and data management needs, create business plans, and turn them into effective business solutions Executive level communications skills, including, strong negotiation/facilitation/presentation skills and experience negotiating with vendors for relevant products and services Ability to lead projects of significant complexity and risk exposure, particularly with enterprise-wide implications Ability to exercise judgment in solving technical, operational, and organizational challenges in the context of complex business objectives and priorities Ability to lead and manage the performance of multiple teams against a set of financial and operational objectives

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

1. Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree

2. 7+ years of Salesforce experience delivering complex solutions

(Financial Services Cloud experience is helpful)

3.  Salesforce certifications representative of past platform experience

4.  Experience in Agile software development and delivery practices

5. Understanding of multiple approaches to SWE Full understanding of Agile methodology Experience leading teams in an Agile organization, particularly those practicing DevSecOps, and/or are in transition from traditional waterfall approach to Agile approach

6. Banking or financial services experience

7. Twelve years of experience in software development, including five years of management experience
