The Home Depot Technology Returnship is a 24-week paid reimmersion program for experienced software engineering professionals returning to the workforce. During this program, participants will experience a comprehensive growth opportunity. As a participant, you will work for 12 weeks under the guidance of more senior engineers to refresh existing skills and receive upskill training on new and existing technologies used at The Home Depot. For the remaining 12 weeks, you will join a team to shadow and support current projects. This is a temporary role with the potential of a permanent position.

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
10% – Planning & Analysis: Uses critical thinking to approach problems and create solutions. Collaborates with senior leaders on assignments.
70% – Delivery & Support: Collaborates and pairs with other product team members (UX, engineering, and product management) to create secure, reliable, scalable software solutions Works under the direction of a more senior engineer to build a well-rounded skillset. Configures commercial off-the-shelf solutions to align with evolving business needs. Creates automation scripts for both infrastructure and test cases.
20% – Learning: Participates in learning activities around modern software design and development core practices (communities of practice).
Proactively views articles, tutorials, and videos to learn about new technologies and best practices being used within other technology organizations. Reviews and discusses code from more senior engineers to understand best practices and design patterns. Increases business acumen by learning about other parts of the business.
