Job Summary:

The ideal candidate has the ability to support the CTO in identifying, designing, building, implementing and reporting on initiatives within the Technology roadmap and strategic priorities. This individual contributor should be highly skilled at architecture, vendor and cost center management, integration engineering and process automation. In addition, this role will need to be a well organized with experience or knowledge of robust multi- project coordination and influencing processes and resources to achieve the desired outcomes. This applicant needs to be an avid self-starter and have the ability to communicate technical objectives across varying levels of the organization to ensure stakeholder alignment and assists the CTO by serving as a well connected Synovus Technology brand ambassador in the footprint, industry and marketplace.

Provides technical expertise and supports activities related to ensuring the overall health and modernization of organization-wide Information Technology systems. Provides support to internal lines of business across the technology infrastructure. Serves as a final escalation point for technical issues ensuring system up-time and functionality are maintained. Represents the team in project planning and other meetings and works in conjunction with leadership to drive the overall direction of the team. Mentors, trains and assists team members and serves as lead technical subject-matter-expert and liaison between line of business partners and Information Technology. Contributes to strategic planning and influences best practices and may serve as a key advisor to leadership regarding significant business decisions. Leads, assists and serves as a point of escalation for junior team members

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists with integration efforts.
  • Supports data migration efforts including API refactoring.
  • Assists in the design and review of systems across the technology stack ensuring alignment with the overall technology strategy.
  • Provides input across the entire project portfolio, serving as subject-matter-expert and consultant. Must be business and technical savy.
  • Develops plans in conjunction with leadership to optimize the technology stack as well as individual applications.
  • Provides guidance to project teams and business as usual activities.
  • Works cross-functionally to ensure the support organization is prepared to support new and potential technologies.
  • Identifies, designs and implements automation initiatives.
  • Identifies troublesome trends and develops plans designed to resolve issues and prevent recurrences.
  • Serves as final escalation point for junior engineers.
  • Acts as subject-matter-expert for area of responsibility, attending meetings and serving as team representative.
  • Assists with the daily flow of work between team members and ensures service levels are achieved.
  • Each team member is expected to be aware of risk within their functional area. This includes observing all policies, procedures, laws, regulations and risk limits specific to their role. Additionally, they should raise and report known or suspected violations to the appropriate Company authority in a timely fashion.

Minimum Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or other related technical field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Minimum Experience:

  • 7+ years of experience supporting a variety of technologies including virtualization experience and developing, utilizing, and writing new automation for a variety of functions as well as experience leading and mentoring team members within the group

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Understanding of distributed systems architecture and general knowledge of multiple technical disciplines
  • Understanding of software development life cycle and various components that make up the software pipeline
  • Scripting skills across multiple languages
  • Familiarity with automation initiatives and optimization of existing automation
  • Understanding of Windows server and Linux distros (RedHat preferred)
  • Understanding of a variety of network and security protocols
  • Broad knowledge of a variety of technologies and protocols
  • Ability to quickly shift between technology stacks
  • Verbal and written communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences
  • Analytical, problem-solving and conceptual skills

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Experience with technical project management (financial, planning, workflow, etc.)
  • Experience with Boomi or Azure
  • Understanding of applicable business unit functions, processes and cross-group dependencies and relationships
  • Knowledge of standard business practices, products and services of the banking industry
