Your opportunity
We’re looking for a Mechanical Engineer – New Product Development to join our Connected Buildings team in Cooper Lighting at our Peachtree City, GA / or Midtown Atlanta GAfacility.
This position will be responsible for designing the next generation of products into the connected buildings segment.

What you’ll do
Coordinate with marketing to ensure project specifications are clear, complete, and achievable and are consistent with voice of the customer.
Ensures design progression via CAD modeling reviews, thermal and mechanical analysis, drawing and model retention, testing plan creation, test review and coordinate with internal as well as third-party compliance.
Coordinates with Sourcing personnel to ensure vendors are identified, quotations are being obtained and quality standards/form deliverables are being met.
Coordinates with manufacturing personnel to ensure production site has been identified, production equipment and other requirements are being put in place and production readiness is achieved both for internal and supplier plants.
Conduct design reviews as well as the Design and Process Failure Mode Effect Analysis (DFMEA, PFMEA) sessions to Identifying project risks and develop response plans
What you’ll need
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or other Engineering or Technical discipline from an accredited institution
5+ years of experience in mechanical engineering/mechanical design
Working knowledge of 3-D modeling software (Solidworks strongly preferred)
Familiarity with injection molded plastic, die cast, or sheet metal design & with manufacturing methods & processes
Basic understanding of thermal behaviors & electrical engineering principles
