The Network Engineer – OSC Team Lead is primarily responsible for the support of internal and customer physical and virtual networking, and firewall management with an extensive understanding of those specialties including any associated automation. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to successfully analyze and perform highly technical and process based problem resolution with an emphasis on customer satisfaction. The candidate must be able to analyze trends, provide recommendations and own solutions, and proactively identify potential critical issues. The candidate must also be able to effectively collaborate across departments to make meaningful changes and improvements.

The Operations Service Center is a 7 x 24 x 365 organization, which means the position requires shift work.  This position will be responsible for 3rd shift.

RESPONSIBILITIES, other duties may be assigned.

Establish technical baseline for Network Engineers in the OSC and establish plans for improvement
Collaborate across IT operations on projects; establish and implement best practices that impact broader organization
Develop new or maintain existing support documentation – Knowledge for systems or devices based on specifications
Participate in the design of new or changing systems and ensure documentation is updated
Respond quickly and effectively to production issues and take responsibility for seeing those issues through resolution
Train Level I & II Support Engineers in the OSC with the goal of first call resolution for customers, for 24×7 advanced technical support on all shifts.
Participate in functional test planning and testing for the assigned functional area(s) or project(s)
Participate in problem solving and troubleshooting for the assigned task(s), functional area(s) or project(s)
Provide weekly status reports on individual projects and tasks
Increasing understanding of a wider set of protocols and advanced technologies
Proficient understanding and experience using configuration management and/or diagnostic tools, monitoring applications and performance analysis tools
Experience in an operational role working directly with internal and external customers, trouble ticketing systems, and incident management
Experience working with distributed, complex enterprise deployments including: multi-tiered environments, virtualization technologies, operating systems, routing, monitoring, storage connectivity, capacity planning, backups, network security
Knowledge and hands on experience with DWDM Optical infrastructure and Dark/lit service technologies
Experience with DDOS and traffic mitigation techniques
Ability to successfully plan, document and perform basic maintenance windows on production network and adhere to change management policies and procedures.
Document complex network environments, standards, policies and procedures.
Proficient understanding and experience enforcing best practice concepts such as network security, access-lists, IOS vulnerabilities and upgrades, user and role based access control
Product familiarity with Cisco IOS, NX-OS, Cisco router and switch products

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or related field or equivalent professional experience
Five or more years of network IT experience
Two or more years of service provider experience, preferably in a Data Center environment
Solid understanding of network/distributed computing concepts
Knowledge of ITIL
Proficient hands-on experience and understanding of fundamental networking concepts and protocols such as: VLAN/PVLAN, HSRP, OSPF, VTP, STP, BGP.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

CCNA/CCNP certification
Experience with Palo Alto Networking; Palo Alto Networking ACE or PCNSE certification
Hands on experience configuring, testing, troubleshooting on Cisco routing and switching platforms like Cisco ASR, Catalyst 6500/7600 and Nexus 5000/7000/9000 platforms.

Strong communication skills. Ability to convey technical requirements and concepts, commensurate to one’s level, to technical and non-technical clients and corporate audience.
Excellent written and oral communications, problem solving and process management skills.
Ability to work well within a team environment in a matrixed organization.
Interpersonal skills with the ability to interface with all levels of the organization
